Metallurgical Fire 6 years late is better than never. Under The Regolith is exceptionally good, and in hindsight it was one of 2018’s best albums. Banger title track on this one. Favorite track: Under The Regolith.
YomaBarr

YomaBarr Did your grandmas tell you eggplants were healthy, nourishing, deathly, thrashy and good for your ears?
Well they are. Eggplants, not grandmas.

The leaves are those of an artichoke though ;)

Spoonbräu 2018 - Death Metal (US)

The actual definition of a steamroller. A VEKTORial approach of neat and without burrs Death Metal. A slightly old-school, Thrash influenced but with too few soli to my own satisfaction. However, the Scandinavian MDM-like vocals could be frustrating at first and lack spectrum but this is truly a solid album overall. Favorite track: Black Waves Of Sorcery.
Arrogant Bastard
Arrogant Bastard thumbnail
Arrogant Bastard Everyone's hailed 2018 as the year of Death Metal. I've searched high and low for quality DM, yet have come up short – that is until I looked Under the Regolith.
This is a proper pummeling product of prolific proportions. A thrashy amalgam of rapid fire riffs and ace death metal I can thoroughly recommend. Favorite track: Crimson Codex.
Dementicus
Dementicus thumbnail
Dementicus Vicious death-thrash with some of the sharpest riffs of the year, morphing into something else through tight, high quality progressive songwriting. Truly excellent stuff. Favorite track: Derelicts.

Hallucigenia 05:42
HALLUCIGENIA To peer behind the veil Reducing valve of mind Entheogen, sight for the blind "Have you found the Yellow Sign?" Sweet henbane and mandrake Deleriant, behold the necroscape Hallucigenia Apocalyptic sight Hallucigenia In madness and the fevers of the night Solo: C. Skildum Vision now revealed to me There is no turning back Paralyzing, the stars burn black For there are hidden vistae For those with eyes to see I can feel them calling... to me Hallucigenia Apocalyptic sight Hallucigenia In madness and the fevers of the night Solo: C. Skildum Forbidden pathways Now revealed to me I see them everywhere Behind the flesh Under the stone Rending the sky Dread beyond compare! Under the surface Where strange shapes crawl and coil Erupting from within Leviathan turns greedy eyes Towards fragile morsels Dawning horror, I let them in As I walked the streets of Carcosa Through cathedrals of bone Something has followed I realize now Something has followed me home

CRIMSON CODEX A whispered legend Grimoire lost to time The Crimson Codex I knew, I knew it must be mine My search began on Le Rue Des Mortes My old rival, the bokor Sense of unease gripped me As I beheld the shattered door Signs of recent struggle told That foes were on this track But none yet knew what I now found The map upon the corpse’s back Archaic tome of magick Dark spells not of this earth I must possess this wisdom My only hope to lift this curse Solo: C. Skildum Through gaslit alleys I fled the grisly scene Pursued by shadows A lucid fever dream Moonlit necropolis Deep loss like open wounds I sought the inverted torch Among the rows of tombs I cracked the bricks and reached inside Through ash to the caveau It was here I found the moonstone As it began to glow Archaic tome of magick Dark spells not of this earth I must possess this wisdom My only hope to lift this curse In my hand, the glowing stone A voice spoke in my head A place I knew, the catacombs Dominion of the dead Cave walls lined with leering skulls Eternal haunting smiles I felt old witchery Primitive and vile CRIMSON CODEX Music: M. Kirkwold / C. Skildum Lyrics: C. Skildum A whispered legend Grimoire lost to time The Crimson Codex I knew, I knew it must be mine My search began on Le Rue Des Mortes My old rival, the bokor Sense of unease gripped me As I beheld the shattered door Signs of recent struggle told That foes were on this track But none yet knew what I now found The map upon the corpse’s back Archaic tome of magick Dark spells not of this earth I must possess this wisdom My only hope to lift this curse Through gaslit alleys I fled the grisly scene Pursued by shadows A lucid fever dream Moonlit necropolis Deep loss like open wounds I sought the inverted torch Among the rows of tombs I cracked the bricks and reached inside Through ash to the caveau It was here I found the moonstone As it began to glow Archaic tome of magick Dark spells not of this earth I must possess this wisdom My only hope to lift this curse In my hand, the glowing stone A voice spoke in my head A place I knew, the catacombs Dominion of the dead Cave walls lined with leering skulls Eternal haunting smiles I felt old witchery Primitive and vile At last I found the glowing skull Partner to the stone Behind the bones, I found my claim Behold, the crimson tome! I cast a desperate spell before I could be found The cave collapsed, I clawed free of heaving ground I knew my foes would not look kindly on defeat Book in hand I fled to my sanctum in retreat Elation melts away, my heart begins to sink Page by page, blank but for my name in sanguine ink!

Ghostwinds 05:26
GHOSTWINDS A fog descends upon this fateful night A spirit dance awrithe in an unearthly light I sought the wisdom of the lost in distant lands I found the obelisk buried in the sands I felt the touch of death inside that ancient keep I felt the shock as the walls began to speak A chill upon my skin The whispers of the dead slowly begin The ghostwinds call me by my name Beyond the flesh, the will remains I hear the voice of doom everywhere I turn Some things once known can never be unlearned I fear the looming loss of all that I have loved Imminent, as below so now above A chill upon my skin The whispers of the dead slowly begin The ghostwinds call me by my name Beyond the flesh, the will remains Solo: M. Kirkwold Solo: C. Skildum A chill upon my skin The whispers of the dead slowly begin The ghostwinds call me by my name Beyond the flesh, the will remains I feel their grief as they worm their way inside The wards between the worlds cast aside Consumed by loss for those I failed to save No release from the hunger of the grave

BLACK WAVES OF SORCERY Unleashed - torn from the void Compelled by the hands of the mage Wrath - fell voices foretell Dawn of a whirlwind of rage Ravaged - this pitiful plane Merciless onslaught of pain Beyond the temporal gates Acolytes driven insane Conjure the dead from their graves Storm with the legions of night Defiled unearthly despoil Corrupted by my spectral light Rise - the arcane divine This fury is mine Writhing Black waves of sorcery Rise - I fear not thy steel This power I wield Storming Black waves of sorcery Engulfed - chaotic sublime Glistening tower of flesh Attack with ravaging force Shatter your final defense Savage vortex of blades Tentacles burst from the earth Relentless envenoming hex Cower in fear from the curse Rise - the arcane divine This fury is mine Writhing Black waves of sorcery Rise - I fear not thy steel This power I wield Storming Black waves of sorcery Burn - the tide ever turns From a hole in the sky, I fell Borne aloft by the blackest of spells Thrall - the master of all Now feel my poison caress The gift I grant is of death Solo: M. Kirkwold Solo: C. Skildum Hail! Mage! Obscene divinations collide Hail! Mage! Fell magick, the arcane divine!

Subject Six 06:38
SUBJECT SIX The plutocrat holds his breath in fear Clenching fists in distress Upon the screen, Subject Six convulsing Transfer complete, at last: success! A secret place, obscured from prying eyes Unmoored from morality In desperation, the clock ticks for his withered flesh All hope now lies in virtuality Postmortal path to eternity Transcend the mortal form Through stolen lives The godmachine awakes A mad dream realized Through purloined flesh reborn Apotheosis, a century of avarice Rapacity unbound Wheeled from the room, the pitiable husk Nevermore to be found His sycophants strap him to the table Obscene in genuflection No moral chains to bind him to this form Now witness resurrection! Postmortal path to eternity Transcend the mortal form Through stolen lives The godmachine awakes A mad dream realized Through purloined flesh reborn Needles pierce the skin Transfer protocol begins Sedation takes control The machines extract his soul Awareness now returns An unfamiliar place Yet not alone Subject Six was not erased! She’s stronger now This ghost in the machine It’s her world now His final act, a scream “I know what you did to me. Now you’re here with me for eternity! I know what you did to me. I know what you did to me.”

UNDER THE REGOLITH Before the fifth extinction As the stars fell from the sky The Elder gate was opened As they left the world behind From the rage of devastation To the surface of the moon Across the sea of endless dark Through harmonies attuned Revealing the ancient design A rift in the ether A wound in the fabric of time Under the regolith Artifacts hold the key To ride the abyss Collapse into infinity As light gave way to shadow Many secrets lost to time Engulfed in cosmic silence To leave us deaf and blind We reach toward the heavens To venture from the shore To follow in the pathways Of those who've gone before And there upon the lunar sea The Elder gate awaits For we are made of stars And the cosmos is our fate Revealing the ancient design A rift in the ether A wound in the fabric of time Under the regolith Artifacts hold the key To ride the abyss Collapse into infinity From the Mare Insularum Crossing the vast spiral arms Beyond the liminal phases To sail under alien stars Solo: M. Kirkwold Solo: C. Skildum Solo: T. Anderson Before the sixth extinction As the mountains burn to ash Forgotten arts have been revealed To set us free at last From the shore of Luna To Eridani Epsilon Through the claws of Scorpius We seek the far beyond In the orbit of Draconis Where the skin of time is torn We'll meet our ancient Elders A legacy reborn Revealing the ancient design A rift in the ether A wound in the fabric of time Under the regolith Artifacts hold the key To ride the abyss Collapse into infinity From the Mare Insularum Crossing the vast spiral arms Beyond the liminal phases To sail under alien stars

Derelicts 06:21
DERELICTS Solo: M. Kirkwold Awakening from cold slumber We’ve traveled so far Our hopes and dreams have led us here A desperate flight towards distant stars Using the gifts of the old ones We followed the ancient routes Arriving at last to a lifeless system Our hope gives way to doubt A glittering band of ice No signs of life Unfathomable ruins Only alien tombs A stellar grave, devoid of life A shattered world, sterilized Abandoned craft, the necrolith What waits for us among the derelicts? Solo: C. Skildum Among the ruins, an ominous find The cold regard of synthetic minds No loving grace in these machines Here at the end, only shattered dreams Creations extinguish their builders A reckoning through the great filter A glittering band of ice No signs of life Unfathomable ruins Only alien tombs A stellar grave, devoid of life A shattered world, sterilized Abandoned craft, the necrolith What waits for us among the derelicts? Flesh and machine, joined as one Sentient growth mycelium Awakening the alien dead The virus begins to spread Solo: M. Kirkwold A twisted mass of carbon and silicon We’ve crossed our final rubicon Man and machine, conversion to biomass Our mortal flesh has set them free at last Here at the end of all our dreams So cruelly deceived An ancient evil once again Has been unleashed

SHUNNED HOUSE The shunned house at the end of the road Ascending stairs to the master's abode Through the gate, I enter alone Seeking secrets not meant to be known Through unlit halls Tracing symbols carved in the walls No longer alone As I pass the first pile of bones Unquiet souls I can feel their wounds upon me Eternally lost Creeping shadows surrounding me In the final chamber My flesh growing cold I draw back the shroud Sanity shattered by what I have found Calling Ancient abductor Falling Infinite structure Cast me down To purest void of nothingness Falling forever Through eternal loss Through realms of pain Nothing else remains Chains of ice Solitary void All that I was, now destroyed Solo: C. Skildum
