DERELICTS

Solo: M. Kirkwold

Awakening from cold slumber
We’ve traveled so far
Our hopes and dreams have led us here
A desperate flight towards distant stars
Using the gifts of the old ones
We followed the ancient routes
Arriving at last to a lifeless system
Our hope gives way to doubt

A glittering band of ice
No signs of life
Unfathomable ruins
Only alien tombs

A stellar grave, devoid of life
A shattered world, sterilized
Abandoned craft, the necrolith
What waits for us among the derelicts?

Solo: C. Skildum

Among the ruins, an ominous find
The cold regard of synthetic minds
No loving grace in these machines
Here at the end, only shattered dreams
Creations extinguish their builders
A reckoning through the great filter

A glittering band of ice
No signs of life
Unfathomable ruins
Only alien tombs

A stellar grave, devoid of life
A shattered world, sterilized
Abandoned craft, the necrolith
What waits for us among the derelicts?
Flesh and machine, joined as one
Sentient growth mycelium
Awakening the alien dead
The virus begins to spread

Solo: M. Kirkwold

A twisted mass of carbon and silicon
We’ve crossed our final rubicon
Man and machine, conversion to biomass
Our mortal flesh has set them free at last

Here at the end of all our dreams
So cruelly deceived
An ancient evil once again
Has been unleashed
